One of the secrets of the Southern Caucuses is that Armenia is the birthplace of wine and winemaking dates back to the 9th century. Armenians have been making wine ever since. Brandy and cognac is also a local specialty. Take some time to visit a few vineyards outside of the city, or if you are short on time take a brandy or cognac tasting tour in the center.
