After the 1st YBAF Fashion Award in 2021 we are happy to announce the the second YBAF Fashion award in partnership with 374 collective has just awarded the two winners for 2022.

The competition aim is to encourage emerging Armenian designers to engage with imagination in the face of adversity and channel their creativity to rejuvenate the world of art through fashion.

The theme of this year Fashion Award was Modernization of Tradition.

The Jury for this year award was formed by Gohar Khojabagyan, publicist and brand strategist and Founder at POMMIE, Arpine Movsisyan, fashion stylist and creative director and Founder at OOTTEE, and Rima Kazumyan, senior fashion designer at Emporio Armani.

YBAF Fashion Award 2022 winners are Marc Petrosyan & Varduhi Torosyan !!!!

We are very excited to start working with the two winners and looking forward for their future success.

Varduhi Torosyan’s collection tried to emphasize the connection between man and nature. Torosyan notes that she worked only with natural materials, as she adheres to the eco-concept. This is a traditional Armenian textile. I tried to give a fresh breath by presenting woolen clothes in a new and original way, said Torosyan.

Mark Petrosyan is only 20 years old. He has been designing clothes for less than half a year, and his victory at this fashion award is the first milestone in his future promising career.

This is my first collection. The whole process was so intense for me that I didn’t even think about winning. I only tried to perfectly present my collection on stage. The victory was unexpected, because all the designers are very talented,” admits Petrosyan. “Katil” in translation from Armenian means “drop”. When the organizers announced that the theme of the show was the modernization of traditions, Mark tried to find a non-standard approach to it.

YBAF 2021 Winner was Anahit Galatea.

Galatea’s collection “Techno Humanism” broke boundaries within the fashion realm and though she was the youngest designer at our show, her dedication and passion to express her creativity captured our jury members. A well deserved win. Congratulations Anahit Galatea!

Anahit reminds us that fashion is art and that art can bring focus to important topics through aesthetics.

We are cheering you on in your success. YBAF Fashion Award hopes that by this annual competition it ignites the creativity within local fashion designers and showcases the ART that exists in this industry.

This year we focused on creativity and innovative designs. All those who applied this year motivated and inspired us by their unique work. The 10 designers chosen to partake at our 2021 fashion show exceeded our expectations to how much art making is possible. It has been an honor to work with each of them and we hope you take the time to get to know each of these unique and talented designers.
