The Foundation

The Yerevan Biennial Art Foundation (YBAF) is committed to an all-encompassing approach to establishing a creative ecosystem. Our projects are aimed at interconnecting the realms of the arts, culture, and education.  This platform exists for public engagement and operates locally, nationally, and internationally.

Central to the role of YBAF is the implementation of formal and informal education particularly in relation to the arts and creative industries, with a strong mission to support local Armenian Artists.

The Foundation has been established to develop and execute initiatives all year round, among them the Yerevan Biennial.  YBAF will act as a cohesive force in the arts, cultural, economic, and social sectors in Yerevan by assembling partners from across the sectors. The Foundation is focused to keep up the efforts to run the Biennial every two years, by offering its stakeholders, clients, and participants a platform that nurtures and values collective dialogue, diversity, and pluralism.

Our Vision

One of our primary goals is to support local Armenian artists. We place a strong emphasis on implementing formal and informal education that will modernize Armenia’s art scene. Our work is addressed towards spotlighting the various stages, aesthetics, and forms of Armenian culture, showing its diversity and connection to the world. In this process, we seek to empower Armenian artists and art institutions and interconnect them broadly—developing the local infrastructure to have Armenia’s art sphere thrive.

Armenia has a long, diverse, and interrupted history, which has created numerous gaps in many fields, including culture.

Being part of the cultural sector, we join other institutions of Armenia in our work towards filling in those gaps. Each project we come up with is designed to create interdisciplinary and international bridges, dialogs between different fields and cultures that will contribute to making Armenia more culturally diverse, strong in its international relations and cultural representation.
